Major events
The following are some of the major events in the history of KAWAN®:
- Engineering and construction works for the production of Process Equipment commenced in early 1996.
- In 1998, KAWAN® was awarded a license by Department of Safety & Health (DOSH) Malaysia to design and construct unfired pressure vessels. KAWAN® is also a license contractor for LPG/LNG piping, accredited by the DOSH and Class “B” Contractor accredited by the Department of Electricity and Gas Supply (JBEG).
- In 2004, KAWAN® built the second Biodiesel and Vitamin plant for Carotech Berhad.
- In 2006, KAWAN® built the third Biodiesel and Vitamin plant for Carotech Berhad amount to RM 40 million.
- In 2006, KAWAN® introduced a quality management system based on the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 International Standard.
- In the fourth quarter of 2006, KAWAN® move to new premise. Operating in a factory lot of 1.5 acre, with an engineering crew of approximately 20 experienced and dynamic personnel, KAWAN® are now able to customized design, fabricate, install and commission plants / systems.
- In 2007, KAWAN® built the forth Biodiesel and Vitamin plant for Caroteh Berhad amount to RM 100 million.
- In 2007, KAWAN® was qualified as contactor with grade G7 by Construction Industry Development Board.
- In March 2008, one of KAWAN®’s product - Pressure Vessels is accredited by American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) as authorized to use the indicated symbol “U”. All the pressure vessels are manufactured and tested in accordance with the A.S.M.E. Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
- In Apr 2008, KAWAN® acquire Aquaheat New Zealand’s production facility and intellectual property and are moving into fabrication of thermal oil heater, hot water boiler, steam generator and pre-heater.
- KAWAN® had obtained certification of ISO 9001:2000 on 1st August 2008 on the area of design, manufacturing, on-site commissioning of pressure vessel, heat exchanger system, water & waste treatment equipment and process equipment.
- In September 2008, KAWAN® was awarded as repair boiler manufacturer by Department of Safety & Health (DOSH) Malaysia
- KAWAN® becomes one of the members of Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) since 29th October 2008.
- In October 2008, KAWAN® was awarded a license by Department of Safety & Health (DOSH) Malaysia to design and construct hot water boiler, thermal oil heater and coiled once-through boiler.
- In March 2009, KAWAN®’s Quality Management System is based on requirements of ISO 9001:2008.
- In May 2009, KAWAN® was awarded Class “A” Contractor certificate by Contractor Services Centre, (Pusat Khidmat Kontraktor, PKK).
- In July 2009, the Company name had been change to Kawan Engineering Sdn. Bhd.
- KAWAN® had obtained certification of ISO 9001:2008 on 17th August 2009 on the area of design, manufacturing, on-site commissioning of pressure vessel, heat exchanger system, water & waste treatment equipment and process equipment.
